The Project
Vecta were engaged by Whangārei District Council to provide design and construction monitoring services for a new 1500 m³ dual tank timber reservoir at a new site in Woodlea Lane. Our scope included the telemetry building, access road, drainage and services alongside a new pump station.
What We Did
This multi-disciplinary project was spread across three sites and involved significant earthworks, mechanical, structural, waters and electrical components. Vecta undertook hydraulic modelling of the network to analyse network performance and develop solutions for performance improvement. Our design solution included a commissioning strategy to maintain water supply to residents whilst decommissioning the existing reservoir. The project involved extensive works alongside roadways requiring detailed traffic management to ensure disruption to public was kept at a minimum.
The Outcome
Whangārei District Council now has a new reservoir and pump station, strengthening the local community’s water supply resilience and supporting safe future delivery. The increased capacity also enables Te Kamo to accommodate future growth.
